Advice to avoid Dubai-Sharjah peak-hour traffic

Sharjah residents have been advised to avoid leaving Dubai during the rush hours between 4pm to 6.30pm, during Ramadan.

As the traffic peaks between these times, RTA has asked motorists to stay away from congested routes as far as possible.

In the wake of rising complaints from road users on taking around two hours to reach their destination since the holy month commenced, Maitha Bin Adai, CEO, RTA Traffic and Roads Agency (TRA), said traffic jams towards Sharjah starts as early as 1pm during Ramadan.

Bin Adai added that there is no visible increase in the traffic from last year. “Ramadan traffic looks the same (every year), as private and public sectors have similar working hours, and leave around the same time,” Bin Adai said.

“There is no specific route recommended for motorists, as the total trip time depends on the origin and destination of each individual,” she added. More info
